About

Hello and welcome to our blog! We are Diane, Nick, and babes Theo (10) and Max(7).

I am a city girl and my boyfriend Nick is a suburbanite, so when we first started looking for a home it was a challenge, to say the least. I wanted to live close to downtown, Nick just wanted a big yard for the kids to run around. Besides not seeing eye to eye on location we faced many different challenges. Nick lives in the trendy town of Northampton, MA. The housing market here is competitive and scarce. If we found a home that seemed ideal it was either way outside our budget, within our budget but super outdated, outside of our budget and outdated. So after a long while of endless Zillow scrolls, we expanded our search and low and behold we found the perfect home!

Well not quite... The house is an old farmhouse, in a small farm town, with cows for neighbors! What happened to our long list of must-haves, including location, city vibe(On my list), modern, to list a few?! Nick had to drag me out there, I was super hesitant, but the minute we turned the corner and drove over the bridge to the house(yes, I said a bridge, the house has a bridge!) I was sold. The house sits on 18 acres with a beautiful brook running right on the property. The kids loved it, we loved it but here is the catch...the house was built in 1865, so it needs a lot of work, like a complete gut job(think the movie "The Money Pit").

Our hope is to use this blog to document our experience and maybe inspire others to make their dream home a reality. So we welcome you to follow us on this journey as we navigate through uncharted waters.

xoxo,

Diane, Nick, Theo & Max
